Hello and Happy Inkin’ Thursday, or as I like to think of it, Friday Eve. Welcome to this week’s Blog Hop. I’m new to the Thursday group, but you might have stopped by my blog during the monthly Amy’s Inkin’ Crew Blog Hop. However you arrived here, I am very glad you stopped by today.
Today’s card is a color challenge. I chose to use
I also took some inspiration from the Try Stampin’ on Tuesday Challenge #632.
Here is my card. I wanted a pretty, simple card that I could easily make in bulk. Just in case you (and I) still need to make a bunch of Christmas cards. 🙂
I chose a base of Cherry Cobbler. It’s really my favorite red for the holiday season. I cut a second layer of Cherry Cobbler and embossed it with the Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder. I used a piece of Joyful Specialty Paper in Shaded Spruce for the side panel and in Cherry Cobbler behind the sentiment.
I cut a Gold Foil Sheets panel and used the Joy of Noel NOEL die and the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine to cut NOEL out of the center of the Gold Foil. I also cut NOEL out of Old Olive cardstock. I cut a mat of Gold Foil and glued the Old Olive panel to the Gold with liquid glue. Be light on the glue here as the glue spreads a lot on the slick service of the Gold Foil Sheets in my opinion. Additionally I allowed extra time for the glue to set. I inserted the Gold NOEL letters into the Old Olive cutout and included the Old Olive center of the O . I saved the Old Olive Noel letters and the Gold Foil O center for a second card.
I used the Very Best Trio punch to punch the four corners of the matted sentiment panel. I used gold 1/8″ trim across the width of the front panel and adhered the trim to the back with Stampin’ Seal+. I did the same on vertically on the card. I secured the crossed ribbons with two mini glue dots. I used a piece of gold 1/8″ trim folded in half behind the sentiment panel as tails. I chose not to tie a bow as the knot was quite thick in my opinion. Additionally, the trim has a right and wrong side, and tying a bow showed too much of the ribbon “wrong” side for my liking.
I used Stampin’ Dimensionals and attached the Joy of Noel stamp set sentiment to the card front avoiding placing dimensionals on the ribbon trim. I added two gold festive pearls to the upper right side of the card and one on the sentiment. I adhered the front panel to the card base front with dimensionals.
For the inside layer, I used a panel 4″ x 5-1/4″. I cut a 5-1/4″ x 3/8″ piece of Shaded Spruce Joyful Specialty Paper and adhered it vertically to the right side of the inside layer. I stamped the Joy of Noel stamp set sentiment “Making Spirits Bright” on the inside layer in Cherry Cobbler. I then inked the small berry branch in Old Olive, stamped off once and then stamped the branch over the Cherry Cobbler sentiment.
For the envelope, I used the white Joyous Specialty Designer Series paper for the flap and trimmed the excess with paper snips. I inked the texture stamp in Old Olive and stamped off twice before stamping on the front of the envelope. I then inked the larger branch in Tuxedo Black Memento ink, stamped off once and stamped the upper portion of the stamp on the front of the envelope over the previously stamped texture. I inserted a plastic sheet into the envelope and used light Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends to color just the berries on the branch.
That’s all for this card. See the printable PDF instructions for the measurements and detailed instructions to make this card. You can make a second card with the same designer series paper and a reversed sentiment (Gold top panel with Old Olive mat and letters) with the leftover letters from the Joy of Noel die cuts. Once you’ve made your card, remember to share joy by mailing it.
