Hello and thank you for visiting my blog. Today I am bringing you a card using two new stamp sets from the online exclusives that became available on November 7. I ordered early on the 7th and received my order fairly quickly, but I hadn’t really had time to play with them. Finally this week I was able to play with them and I just LOVE both stamp sets. I am so happy with the card I made using the Of Art & Texture and the Softly Said stamp set along with the Mini Pocket Envelope Dies.
I really like using texture on my cards and use an embossing folder often when I create. Today’s card is no exception as I use the Twisted Rope 3D Embossing Folder. I also really like stamps that provide texture in the form of a stamp with ink. The Of Art & Texture photopolymer stamp set has 8 different stamps of various sizes with a variety of textures. So fantastic! I’ve never had a textured stamp set with so much variety.
The Softly Said cling stamp set has lovely, large watercolor sentiments. I enjoy large sentiments – really easy to get my point across, right?? I’m not an avid fussy cutter, y’all, but these large sentiments are easy for even me to fussy cut. Alternatively, stamp these sentiments in large circles, squares or rectangles. The Deckled Circles or Deckled Rectangles would be great for these sentiments in my opinion.
Ok, enough gushing about the two stamp sets I used, let’s talk about the card. My color inspiration came from Color Throwdown CTD769
As a card maker I feel like I am always looking ahead to the next holiday so I am prepared with cards to send. I’ve been working in green and red for Christmas for some time now, so it was refreshing to work with pink, gray and green for this card.
I started with a Bubble Bath card base cut at 4-1/4″ x 11″ and scored at 5-1/2″. Then I added a Smoky Slate 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ panel embossed with the Twisted Rope 3D Embossing Folder. For the front, I selected a piece of Delightful Floral 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper. I did use the Basic Borders Dies to make the DSP edge curved, but in the final product there’s only a brief glimpse of that curve available so I’d call it optional to do. Using liquid glue, I adhered the DSP to the front panel using liquid glue leaving a very small margin on the left edge of the panel.
I used Vellum Cardstock and the Mini Pocket Envelope Dies to die cut a gift card pocket with the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss. I folded the pocket tabs and the pocket back side into the gift card shape and burnished them with my bone folder. This gives the edges a very crisp fold. I opened the tabs and placed my silicone mat under the Vellum while I applied Stampin’ Seal+ on the tabs. Then I pushed the excess Stampin’ Seal+ back onto the tab. I then folded the Mini Pocket Envelope back to the tabs and rubbed to adhere them.
Although adhesive usually shows through Vellum because the tabs are folded and adhered on the back side there’s no concern about the Stampin’ Seal+ showing in this case. Plus, once a gift card or special note is inserted in the Mini Pocket Envelope, the tabs are covered and don’t show at all. I put Seal+ on the back of the Mini Pocket Envelope and adhered it to the card panel.
I stamped the Softly Said stamp set “Just Because” sentiment using Pebbled Path ink on Natural Finish 7/8″ ribbon – wait, what? That’s a retired ribbon y’all! Doh! If you don’t have some of this left in your stash, good alternatives are the white 3/4″ herringbone ribbon or the 1″ Natural Ribbon from the Copper & Natural Ribbon combo pack. Using Stampin’ Seal+ I adhered the ribbon edges to the back of the card using Stampin’ Seal+. I placed a mini glue dot under the ribbon on the Mini Pocket Envelope.
With the Country Bouquet punch, I punched a large heart from Bubble Bath and two leaves from the Parakeet Party mottled paper from the Designer Floral DSP. I adhered the leaves to the back of the large heart with liquid glue and determined placement on the ribbon. With liquid glue, I had some wiggle room in case I needed to move the leaves around so that all of the sentiment showed. Once I determined placement, I used liquid glue to adhere the heart to the ribbon.
I used three of the gorgeous white Adhesive-Backed Sparkle Gems in the upper right corner and two more on either side of the ribbon. Normally I don’t usually use five embellishments on a card, but I love the extra sparkle the Adhesive-Backed Sparkle Gems added so I added extra gems.
I cut a Smoky Slate inside mat with a Basic White inside panel. I stamped the Softly Said “You Are Loved” sentiment in Parakeet Party on the inside panel. I used an Of Art & Texture stamp in Bubble Bath ink, stamped off once, to stamp in each corner. I then used the smallest texture stamp in Smoky Slate ink and stamped over the Bubble Bath texture.
For the envelope, I used a floral piece of Delightful Floral DSP which I adhered to the envelope flap with liquid glue. I stamped the front bottom left corner using the longest Of Art & Texture stamp set in Parakeet Party ink, stamped off once, and then the Of Art & Textures squares in full strength Bubble Bath ink.
I hope you’ll use the PDF instructions to make this card. Who do you know that could use a Just Because card?
