Hello, and thank you for visiting my blog today.
My card was inspired by The Paper Players sketch challenge PP664. Here’s the sketch:
And here is my card. From the challenge board I used brown, die cut, twine, embossing, fall items and patterned paper.
I used the Rustic Crate Stamps and Dies for this card along with the stunning All About Autumn designer series paper and vellum which lets the lovely knit in the designer series paper show through.
I was excited when I saw that there was a script hello in with the Rustic Crate dies. I like die cut sentiments, and I especially like to stack them. I used the front crate, back crate, handle, side hardware and the script hello dies for this project. I used the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine to die cut the front crate and back crate pieces out of Crumb Cake. I die cut the handle, side hardware and three script Hello pieces from Copper Clay. While I had it out, I used the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine and the Timeworn Type 3D folder to dry emboss the Very Vanilla panel.
I adhered the All About Autumn knit DSP to the Very Vanilla panel. I then placed this layer aside to work with the Vellum and Rustic Crate pieces.
Since I knew I wanted to use Stampin’ Blends, I stamped the Rustic Crate sunflower and pumpkin stamp on Very Vanilla cardstock in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I enjoy the variety of sunflower, pumpkins and corn in this stamp which can be used through the fall season. The Rustic Crate stamp set also includes poinsettia flowers which are great for winter stamping, too. Any hoo, back to the card…
I admit I used a lot of Stampin’ Blends colors when coloring in my stamp. I colored the large front sunflower in Wild Wheat light and dark with a Crumb Cake center. I colored the corn with light and dark Daffodil Delight and the corn husks in light Old Olive over light Crumb Cake. The large back pumpkin is colored with light and dark Cajun Craze and the front pumpkin is colored with light and dark Shaded Spruce. The smaller sunflower is colored with light and dark Pumpkin Pie with a light Crumb Cake center. The remaining leaves are colored with light and dark Old Olive.
Thankfully I’ve seen the crate put together by the Inkin’ Krew fearless leader Amy Koenders, or I would have struggled with it a little. The die cut crate has several scored tabs that I expected to fold towards the back, but they actually fold to the top of the piece. I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere the decoratively embossed crate front to the crate back tabs on both side and the bottom. I like how this makes the crate three dimensional.
The hardware die cuts both pieces at once which was awesome! I used liquid glue to adhere the crate hardware on the left side of the crate front piece using liquid glue. One piece is shorter than the other and that piece should be adhered towards the far left edge of the crate. The longer piece is adhered closer to the front of the crate. I was careful to use a few small dots of glue since I didn’t want too much glue squishing out onto the stamped image. Speaking of the stamped image, I placed a line of glue at the bottom of the image and slipped it into the crate. I found that I preferred the image lower in the crate, so that’s where I placed it.
I placed the Vellum and the completed crate on the front layer to determine my preferred placement. I then used liquid glue on the bottom edge of the crate and adhered the crate to the vellum. I added a single dimensional to the back of the stamped image and adhered it to the Vellum. I then put small dots of liquid glue on the bottom edge of the handle. I placed the handle behind the crate and put a twine bow on the crate handle.
I used very small dots of liquid glue on the top of two sentiment pieces and let it dry for a little bit until it was tacky – more clear than white. I then stacked one glued piece on top of the other, then the final unglued Hello on the top, making a layered sentiment.. I adhered the sentiment to the top right of the Vellum layer. I applied liquid glue to the back of the Vellum being careful to put glue only where the sentiment or crate would cover the Vellum so the liquid glue would not show through the Vellum.
I added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the front card layer and adhered the layer to the Crushed Curry card base. I then placed three Copper Clay Adhesive-Backed Speckled Dots on the front of the card.
I used Very Vanilla for the inside layer. I used part of the same Rustic Crate stamp with the sunflowers and pumpkins on the inside bottom right corner and colored it with Stampin’ Blends.
For the envelope, I used the All About Autumn knit photo to decorate the envelope flap. I stamped the crate front from the Rustic Crate stamp set on the front of the envelope in full strength Crumb Cake. I made a mask to cover the crate and stamped the foliage onto the front of the envelope. I inserted a piece of plastic into the envelope and used Stampin’ Blends in Old Olive, Shaded Spruce, Cajun Craze, Daffodil Delight and Wild Wheat to color the image.
I hope you enjoy making this card. Don’t forget to mail your card to spread the love!
Thanks again for spending some time with me today. Have a blessed day, y’all.
