Happy Tuesday, crafting friends. Today I have a very dazzling gift card in a card box for you – well actually More Dazzle Specialty DSP. I know that’s a confusing description, but it’s a card. It’s a box. It’s a gift card. It’s a gift card in a card box. And here it is:
I began with a piece of Balmy Blue cut to 10″ x 8-1/2″. I placed the 10″ side of the cardstock against the top of the Simply Scored board and scored at 2″, 3-1/2″, 6-1/2″ and 8″. I then turned the paper so the 8-1/2″ edge was up against the top of the scoreboard and scored at 1-1/2″ and again at 7″. I folded on all score lines and burnished with my bone folder.
I trimmed the four corner rectangles to make the box tabs by cutting on the 1-1/2″ score line to the second score line. I removed the 1-1/2″ x 2″ rectangle section, leaving the shorter tab in place. On the remaining tab, I trimmed the outside and inside of the flap at a slight angle from the unattached edge to the attached edge, so that the edges will not protrude over the top or bottom edges when the box is assembled. Do this to make the four corner tabs.
I placed the flap edge of the card at the top and marked the center of the 3″ rectangle. Using the Simply Scored Board, I scored from the center of the rectangle diagonally to the bottom of the 3″ rectangle on both sides. A diagram is really worth a thousand words in this case, so I’ve included one for you. Another option is to watch my video to see the scoring live.
I cut two pieces of More Dazzle Specialty designer series paper at 1-1/4 x 5-1/4″ for the box side panel and then two panels at 1-3/4″ x 5-1/4″ for the card top. I used liquid glue to adhere the More Dazzle 1-1/4″ x 5-1/4″ panel to the side of the box, then attached the 1-3/4″ x 5-1/4″ to the top card flaps. With the Very Best Trio Punch, I punched each of the four top flap corners with the decorative corner
Tear & Tape is my adhesive of choice for this project because it has a very durable hold. I placed two pieces of tear & tape on each tab and burnished the tear & tape with my bone folder. I removed the adhesive cover with my Take Your Pick tool. I adhered the tabs to the outside of the box one at a time. The box looks like a box now. The 1-1/4″ x 5-1/4″ More Dazzle DSP is now ready to be adhered to the outside box panel with liquid glue.
I die cut the Mini Pocket Envelope out of retired DSP using the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine. In this case, I used DSP because it is thinner and I will be putting the thick More Dazzle Specialty DSP inside the pocket. I want to make sure the gift card fits. To create the Mini Pocket Envelope, I folded the tabs and the back of the envelope and burnished with my bone folder. I applied liquid glue to adhere the tabs to the back.
I used the Mini Pocket Envelope dies again to cut a front piece from the More Dazzle Specialty DSP. This piece will have tabs, which I cut away with snips before gluing it to the front of the Mini Pocket Envelope. Again using the More Dazzle Specialty DSP, I cut a half back piece by laying the top of die back piece over an edge and cutting the piece out. I suggest trimming the side edges very slightly so that the back slides into the envelope without being too snug. Glue the decorative back piece by sliding the piece into the Mini Pocket Envelope making the top even. Using Stampin’ Seal+, I adhered the Mini Pocket Envelope to the inside of the box.
With the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine, I die cut the two deckled circles (4th and 5th from the smallest). I cut the 5th circle in Night of Navy and the 4th from Balmy Blue. I used the Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing folder and the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine to emboss an 11″ x 1″ strip of cardstock. The folder is not wide enough to emboss the entire strip at the same time, so I ran one half of the strip through the machine and then the other half. I also ran the Night of Navy Deckled Circle through through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine with the Snowflake Sky 3D embossing folder. I used a blending brush and white ink to lightly whiten and define the raised portion of the embossing so the snowflakes stood out.
On the Balmy Blue Deckled Circle, I stamped the Joy of Noel stamp set sentiment “Joyous” with Real Red ink. I adhered the Balmy Blue sentiment circle offset on the Night of Navy Deckled Circle using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I die cut the Real Red berries, a large foliage in Night of Navy and a smaller foliage in Night of Navy, Real Red and Balmy Blue. Using small dots of my fav adhesive, liquid glue, I adhered the Real Red berries to the large foliage piece. I arranged the foliage and glued it onto the Night of Navy Deckled Circle under the Balmy Blue circle. I fit the belly band to the card, overlapping the edges on the front of the card, trimmed away the long tail and adhered the overlapping edges together securely with Stampin’ Seal. Again using Stampin’ Seal, I adhered the sentiment circle to the belly band covering the ends of the belly band.
For the envelope, I used the More Dazzle Specialty DSP which I adhered to the envelope flap with liquid glue. I trimmed the DSP with paper snips.
For the front of the envelope, I used the Of Art & Texture stamp set and stamped the lines in Balmy Blue. I used the Rich Red and Garden Green Stampin’ Write Markers to color the three berries stamp. I huffed on the stamp before stamping on over the Balmy Blue lines.
Add your gift card, cash or special message in the Mini Pocket Envelope before sliding the belly band back on the card. This card will fit in a Stampin’ Up! Basic White Medium Envelope. It’s a little fiddly to get it in because it’s so thick, but it fits and will seal. Because of the thickness I recommend taking it to the post office to assure the correct postage is applied to the envelope. Alternatively, this is the perfect card to hand deliver to your recipient.
Do you prefer to give or receive? I’m definitely a giver. I enjoy finding the right gift and sometimes that’s a gift card or cash. It also brings me joy to give it in a blingy card box gift card.
Thank you for visiting my blog today. Have a blessed day, y’all.
