Good morning, gentle readers (is that a copywrited Bridgerton phrase?). This morning our senior dog, Pixie, was up at 3:30 a.m. Same with yesterday. Now, y’all, I can handle 4 a.m. most days, but David is traveling and I’ve been feeling run down since Saturday, so 3:30 a.m. was beyond me this morning. Pixie, however, was quite insistent so everyone was up by 3:45 a.m.
I had planned to write a blog on another card and changed my mind – twice. This morning I realized that what I really needed was easy. And I mean really easy. So here it is – easy! Most of the work was already done for me because my card base is the lovely Gold Foiled Flowers Card. These cards are suitable to use as is or to add any personal touches you desire. The envelope flap is so beautiful with cut out flowers and leaves. I had a couple of Gold Foiled Flowers Cards & Envelopes left over after including them in my product shares for this mini catalog. I am glad I get to create with them. I will probably buy more because they’re so pretty.
I have been creating with the Doggone Friendly background stamp lately and the little Yorkie looks like my Jesse (he’s a Silky Terrier – an Austrailian Terrier bred with a Yorkshire Terrier), so I wanted to focus on that Yorkie. For the larger stamps, it’s best to leave the stamp face up (I leave it in the case) and bring the ink to the stamp and then bring the paper to the inked stamp. I used Tuxedo Black Memento ink and inked up the Yorkie portion of the Doggone Friendly stamp. I placed a scrap of Vellum cardstock over the Yorkie area, rubbed gently for image transfer and removed carefully.
I used the heat tool briefly on level 1 to dry the ink, before using light and dark Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends on the back side of the Vellum to color the mustache, “bangs” and the whale spout (that top piece) with the bow. I used dark Azure Afternoon Stampin’ Blends to dot the bow with color – it’s really small, so dot carefully. I colored the remainder of the Yorkie with light Crumb Cake. I used the 2″ Circle Punch to punch Jesse out of the Vellum and then used the Decorative Circle Punch to make a Gold Foil mat for the vellum. I put Stampin’ Seal behind the colored Yorkie face and adhered the vellum to the Gold Foil mat.
I placed Stampin’ Seal on the back of the matted panel and attached a piece of Night of Navy and Gold 1/2″ Glittered Ribbon and attached it to the back side in a trio of folds using the Stampin’ Seal to adhere the ribbon along the length of the panel. I added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the panel placing some over the edge of the ribbon. I adhered the focal point to the front of the card.
For the inside of the card, I also wanted gold, so I chose to heat emboss. As always, I started by swiping the embossing buddy from the Embossing Additions Tool Kit over the lower portion of the inside of the card. Remember that this is to avoid any errant flecks of embossing powder adhereing where you don’t want them.
Using VersaMark ink, I stamped the Irresistible Blooms stamp set texture stamp on the lower right corner with the sentiment to the left of it inside the card. I sprinkled the Gold Metallics Embossing Powder and tapped off, then sprinkled the Gold Metallics Embossing Powder again and tapped off again. Setting the Heat Tool on level two, I allowed it to warm up a bit before heating the embossing powder to a shiny finish.
I didn’t need to do anything to the envelope flap since it’s already a beautiful cutout. For the front of the envelope, I used a Basic Black Stampin’ Write and colored only the Yorkie on the stamp. Once I finished, I huffed on the stamp before applying the envelope corner to the stamp. I inserted a small window sheet into the envelope to prevent bleed through and used the light Azure Afternoon Stampin’ Blend to color the hair bow.
Thank you!

Super cute – and love the isolated Yorkie on your envelope. And – Finn took a look and determined that no Dog Labor Laws are being violated so…you’re good on that front! 🙂
