Hello and welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop.
Today is Thanksgiving Day in the United States, so let me express how thankful I am for YOU. Thank you for the time you spend reading my blog, for signing up to follow me and simply for being a lover, maker and sender of handmade cards. YOU are the reason I share my cards and I am thankful to be able to do so with others who love stamps, ink and paper as much as I do.
Since today is Thanksgiving Day, I thought a thank you card would fit.
For this week’s Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop we were given a sketch challenge.
I chose to turn the sketch to the side and make a tent fold card.
Have you seen the designer series paper I used yet? I’m using a FREE Sale-A-Bration paper that you can choose when you place a $50 order from the upcoming Jan – Apr 2024 Mini Catalog during the Sale-A-Bration earning period. This paper is called Softly Stippled and it’s lovely. Need another reason to love it? There is a coordinating stamp set and die bundle available in the Jan – Apr 2024 Mini Catalog.
In addition to the Softly Stippled SAB paper, I also used the Softly Sophisticated bundle which can be earned for FREE with a $100 order. I used the embossing folder on the Wild Wheat panel of today’s card and the stamp set on the inside and the envelope. The large Thank You stamp is from the Softly Said stamp set. I’ve been using Softly Said a lot lately because I love the large sentiments.
I chose my color palette from the Softly Stippled DSP. As my team leader and mentor, Mary, says color coordination is one of Stampin’ Up!’s superpowers. I used Pebbled Path, Wild Wheat, Calypso Coral and Lost Lagoon for this card.
I used the Softly Sophisticated embossing folder and the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine to emboss the Wild Wheat panel. Once that was done, I wrapped linen thread around the panel three times and tied a knot on the front of the card where the sentiment would end up before trimming the thread tails.
I cut two rectangles from the same piece of DSP. I used the multi-colored stippled flowers for one panel, and the light Pebbled Path side for the Sentiment. This “B-side” piece has a lightly “painted” look and is great for stamping on. I used the Softly Said stamp set for my large Thank You sentiment, which I stamped in Pebbled Path. I cut a Calypso Coral mat and a Pebbled Path mat for the front of the card and adhered the flowered DSP to the Pebbled Path and the sentiment to the Calypso Coral piece with liquid glue. I then used Stampin’ Seal to adhere the two pieces together before adding Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the combined rectangles and adhering them over the linen thread on the front of the card.
I chose Calypso Coral, Lost Lagoon and Wild Wheat cardstock to make some boughs and flowers using the bough punch. I arranged them in groups of threes on the two panels and used liquid glue to adhere them to each other and then to adhere them under the panel.
For the inside of the card, I used a Basic White layer. I think Very Vanilla would also have worked well here. I used the Softly Sophisticated Stamp Set (available FREE with a $100 purchase during Sale-A-Bration in 4 Jan – 29 Feb, 2024) and stamped the sentiment in Calypso Coral. The Softly Sophisticated Bundle contains some two-step stamps. I used the larger of the stem stamps to stamps the stems in the lower right corner using Wild Wheat ink. Next, I inked up the three flower stamp with Calypso Coral. I stamped off once and then stamped my flowers onto the stems.
It’s already time to make the envelope. I chose a different piece of the Softly Stippled DSP for the envelope flap and adhered it using liquid glue. I trimmed off the excess DSP with paper snips. Using Pebbled Path ink and the same stem stamp from the Softly Sophisticated stamp set I stamped off once, then stamped the stems in the lower left of the front of the envelope. Next came the flowers, stamped off twice this time, using Calypso Coral ink.
There are a ton of reasons to send thank you cards, aren’t there? Who will you send this card to today?
Thank you again for stopping by my blog today. I hope you and your family have a joyful Thanksgiving filled with love, blessings and gratitude. Will you shop on Black Friday? David and I live in a very small town, so we shop Cyber Monday. If you participate in Black Friday shopping, enjoy!

Last Chance Sale 21 Nov 2023 to 3 Jan 2024
A new catalog is exciting, but it also means we have to say goodbye to some products. Beginning 21 November 2023 through 3 Jan 2024, Last Chance Products will be on sale. Not every product on the retiring list will be leaving (bundles, for example, may be retiring, but the individual pieces might still be available) but what is retiring will go quickly. Make sure you get your favorites before they are gone forever.
