Welcome to another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop! You may have arrived here from Carol Buckalew’s blog or from another hopper. However you arrived today, welcome!
Our theme today is Winter/Snow, so I bring you this one final 2023 Christmas card. 🙂
I’m almost at the end of my Christmas card making. Not because I’m completely done, but because I want them in the mail by December 1. Soooo, any last minute Christmas cards need to be quick and easy. This pretty little angel fits the bill just fine and she works pretty well with assembly line type card making. Now, that doesn’t mean they’re not personal, just quick.
I started with a Starry Sky card base cut at 4-1/4″ x 11″ and scored at 5-1/2″. I then cut a Starry Sky panel at 4″ x 5-1/4″. I used white craft ink and a dedicated blending brush with the snow flake pattern from the Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks. As of this writing the masks are not available, but they are expected back December 7 so you can still get them in time for Christmas cards.
Any time I use a mask, I tape it to my desk or use sticky notes to keep the mask from moving. The white craft ink is pretty thick so it blends differently than the Stampin’ Up! water based inks. For me this means using a bit more pressure than I would normally use when blending. Additionally, I refreshed the ink on my brush often while blending. I use the brush and blend in a circular fashion and went over the larger areas often. Keep in mind the white craft ink is a pigment ink that stays on top of the card stock and it requires more time than the SU! water based inks to dry. You can speed this process up with your heat tool.
While the Starry Sky panel is drying, I used the deckled circle and the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine to die cut the 6th from smallest deckled circle from Vellum cardstock. The Deckled Circle Dies really are versatile with 14 circle sizes to choose from. So many options and a staple of my cardmaking.
After cutting the Vellum Deckled Circle Dies, I used the Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing folder to emboss the vellum. I just love the look the embossed vellum has – the raised (embossed) parts are white and less opaque than the unembossed sections.
I used the Country Bouquet Punch to punch the angel from Wild Wheat Luster Specialty Paper found in the 2023-2025 In Color 12 x 12 Luster Specialty Paper pack. This is a hidden gem in my craft room, especially when I can use the Wild Wheat as an alternative to Gold Foil Sheets. It has a great amount of luster without being too shiny. It photographs easily, too 🙂
I followed the punch diagram (upside down from the heart and leaves) and set up an angel on the Vellum die cut Deckled Circle. I then used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the angel to the Vellum. One the angel was attached, I applied liquid glue to the back of the Vellum where the angel pieces would cover any show through and attached the Deckled Circle Die cut to the Starry Sky decorated panel.
I used the Iridescent Pearl Basic Jewels and applied three to the Starry Sky panel. I adhered the Starry Sky panel to the Basic White Thick cardbase with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I cut an layer of Basic White for the inside sentiment. I used my embossing buddy and swiped the entire panel as the Night Divine sentiment is an awesome large one. I stamped the sentiment in Versamark Ink, poured the Silver Metallic Embossing Powder over the stamped sentiment and removed the excess by tapping or with a carefully applied brush from the Embossing Additions Tool Kit. After warming my Heat Tool, I applied heat to the Silver Metallic Embossing Powder and watched the magic happen. It’s so fun to see the sentiment turn from powder to a shiny embossed sentiment.
Once the sentiment is fully embossed and cooled, I used Stampin’ Seal to adhere the sentiment layer to a Starry Sky mat layer. I then used liquid glue to adhere the Starry Sky to the Basic White Thick card base.
I used a piece of O Holy Night DSP for my envelope flap. As an alternative, you could embellish a 2-1/4″ x 6″ Starry Sky cardstock with the Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing Folder. In either case, adhere the cardstock or DSP to the envelope flap with liquid glue and trim to size with paper snips. Stamp The Lord is my Shepherd on the front of the envelope in Copper Clay.

Retired Stampin’ Up! Products
My online Stampin’ Up! retired product store has been refreshed with additional products. I will be adding more retired products as I come across them. I have a variety of stamps, dies and embellishments. My stamps and dies are all gently used and most were purchased within the last two years (although some may be “vintage”). Dies might be on magnet cards as I did not start saving the original packaging until just recently. Designer Series Paper and embellishments are new in unopened packages unless otherwise stated.
Due to Stampin’ Up! policies, I can only ship to U. S. addresses.
