Today is the final day to get your Sale-A-Bration items. My card today uses some Sale-A-Bration items and a coordinating Jan – Apr 2024 Mini Catalog bundle. While I was deciding what products to use for the card, I realized that my first choice of the FREE Sale-A-Bration DSP (Sunny Days) is out of stock. If there’s something you want, please get it sooner rather than later so you’re not disappointed. Stampin’ Up! makes such beautiful, quality paper and their FREE Sale-A-Bration paper is no exception. Just because it’s free doesn’t mean it’s not the same quality as all of our other lovely paper.
Today, the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hoppers were given a sketch. Truly this sketch rather stumped me in it’s simplicity because I wanted to make a fun fold. However, after thinking about it I came up with a design to share with y’all.
I usually find it hard to cover any side of the Stampin’ Up! Designer series paper because it’s so pretty. I love the versitility of the free Sale-A-Bration Softly Stippled 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper with the lovely textured “B” sides and the pretty stippled “A” side. Both sides are equally pretty and I want to show it all. This card let me do just that.
To make this accordion fold card, I started with a piece of 12″ x 5-1/4″ DSP as the base instead of the standard card stock. I scored at 2″, 4″, 6″ and 8″ (you chanted that with me, right?). I folded the front flap open in a mountain fold, then accordion folded the rest of the DSP until I came to the last scored line. With liquid glue, I adhered the DSP to a Calypso Coral cardstock base cut at 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ . This card is so fun because the DSP provides a built in mat for the 3-3/4″ x 5″ sentiment panel.
For the front of the card, I cut a 3-1/8″ square Wild Wheat focal point. I then took a 3″ square of Basic White and added nine 1″ squares of the Softly Stippled DSP to the base with liquid glue. I then cut the 3″ square in half both horizontally and vertically. I turned each square so there was a full square in the center with the partial squares on the edges. The 1/2″ square should be in the corner. Once I was satisfied with the arrangement, I taped the four squares to keep them aligned before using the Softly Sophisticated embossing folder to “quilt” my squares. This is a great pattern to replicate sewing or quilting. After embossing using the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine, I adhered the quilted squares to the Wild Wheat focal point base with liquid glue.
I also cut a 3-1/8″ square of Lost Lagoon for the sentiment. I swiped the cardstock with the embossing buddy from the Embossing Additions Tool Kit and stamped the Happy Mother’s Day sentiment from the Stippled Roses Stamp Set in VersaMark ink. I sprinkled black Basics Embossing Powder over the stamped sentiment, tapped off and sprinkled again. I used the heat tool on the second speed to warm and melt the embossing powder to a glossy black. I used Lost Lagoon ink stamped off once and the single rose from the Stippled Roses Stamp Set and stamped a rose in the corner of the focal point.
I added two pieces of Tear and Tape on the left 1″ of the front panel. I secured 1″ of the focal point on the DSP, centered on the front. I repeated this process with the Lost Lagoon sentiment sentiment panel, making sure the sentiment panel is directly behind the front focal point so it is hidden until opening. I decorated the sentiment panel with a 3/4″ X 5″ strip of DSP on the left side of the panel. I wanted the panel blank where it was seen when the card was closed.
For the front decoration, I stamped at single rose in Calypso Coral on Basic White card stock and cut it with the Stippled Roses die. I also die cut a set of Wild Wheat textured leaves, which I attached under the rose with liquid glue. I made a circle with Pretty Peacock & Gold 3/8″ ribbon under the rose secured with Stampin’ Seal+. On the left side of the rose, I added Stampin’ Dimensionals. On the right side I adhered the rose and leaves to the focal point with liquid glue. I added three FREE Sale-A-Bration Opaque Faceted Gems in Calypso Coral to the front of the card and three in Pool Party to the sentiment panel.
I used the 6″ x 2-1/4″ piece of Softly Stippled DSP to decorate the flap of the envelope, adhering the DSP with liquid glue. I stamped part of the Stippled Roses Stamp Set large rose on the front of the envelope in Lost Lagoon.
