A blessed Sunday morning, blog readers. Thank you for stopping by my blog today.
I spent yesterday preparing card kits for my April Beach Day card class. Lots of die cutting of small pieces. So today I needed something easy with limited die cutting 😉
My sister and I were both widowed in our 40’s and both of us remarried about three years after being widowed. Interestingly, my husband David and I both have December birthdays and my sister and her husband both have April birthdays. Today’s card is for my brother-in-law. David and I moved to Texas before my sister and her husband met which means we haven’t spent a lot of time together. However, they visited last month and we were able to spend some good quality time together.
When I think of masculine cards, I really think of simple without a lot of floral elements. Although the Delicate Forest Stamp Set leans towards support, I felt that I could use it as a birthday card. The sending our love sentiment, combined with the Unbounded Love Stamp Set sentiment, works for a birthday.
My card is a CASE (copy and share everything) of the Delicate Forest Stamp Set sample from the Jan – Apr Mini Catalog. The Delicate Forest Photopolymer Stamp Set and Delicate Forest Dies are carrying over into the 2024 – 2026 Annual Catalog, but the 10% bundle savings ends when the 2024 – 2026 Annual Catalog goes live May 1, 2024.
For this card, I started with a Pretty Peacock Sweet Thoughts Memories & More Cards & Envelopes card base. These card and envelope card packs are retiring April 30, but I’m thinking many of you selected them as Sale-A-Bration rewards in February like I did.
For the card front, I used a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/4″ panel on which I stamped complementary ink colors – Pool Party (stamped off once) on the right, Coastal Cabana (stamped off once) on the left and Lost Lagoon (full strength) in the center.
I stamped the sentiment on Basic White using Pretty Pretty Peacock ink, another complimentary color and die cut the sentiment using the long Delicate Forest Dies. I used Stampin’ Seal+ on the back of the sentiment and added a 4″ strip of Pretty Peacock & Gold 3/8″ Metallic Ribbon, then added Stampin’ Seal+ to the back of the ribbon and adhered the sentiment to the front of the panel over the tree trunks. This ribbon is also carrying over into the 2024 – 2025 Annual Catalog.
For the inside of the card, I used the larger Delicate Forest Dies attached leaf die to decorate the bottom of the card interior. There are a lot of little leaves, so I recommend adhesive sheets or very small dots of liquid glue on the foliage pieces. You can make this piece is deep (tall) as you want just by where you lay it on the cardstock you’re cutting from. The card is 4-1/4″ wide, so if you use that size cardstock the die will cut all the way through. Any wider and you’ll need to trim the ends with paper snips. For the inside sentiment, I used the Unbounded Love Photopolymer Stamp Set Happy Birthday.
The envelope is already decorated inside and out so the only thing I added was the small trio of trees stamped in Pretty Peacock ink on the front of the envelope.
That’s it for today’s card. No printable instructions since I have given all the card cut information needed.
Thank you!
