Hello. A happy and blessed Sunday to everyone. Thank you for stopping by today.
I saw a post by Jackie Bolhuis with a suggestion on how to use up small scraps. She was talking pretty small – 1″ x 1″ squares. You can use any paper you have and you only need 8 squares to make the background. I used the Softly Stippled 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper which is a FREE Sale-A-Bration item at the $50 (before tax and shipping) level and only available until February 29. I also used the coordinating Stippled Roses Bundle from the Jan – Apr 2024 Mini Catalog which ends April 30, 2024. Do we think it’s a coincidence that the bundle is priced at $54 – which means you can get the coordinating paper FREE?
To start I picked four (4) Softly Stippled papers and cut two 1″ x 1″ squares from each. I used a 3″ x 4″ base of Basic White and glued three squares to the top of the card, added three more going down the right side and two more across the bottom for a total of 8 squares. To keep it simple, I used the front and back of each double sided paper next to each other so that the floral and textured patterns alternate around the card edge.
Now if you’re paying attention you’ve realized that there is an empty 2″ x 2″ square on the card panel. This is where the focal point will go. I cut a 2-1/8″ x 2-1/8″ square of Calypso Coral which I used as a base to adhere my focal point. For a focal point, I stamped the Stippled Roses Stamp Set large roses on the textured Lost Lagoon Softly Stippled DSP using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I used dark and light Lost Lagoon Stampin’ Blends on the leaves and light Lost Lagoon on some of the shaded areas in the large roses.
I stamped the Stippled Roses Cling Stamp Set rose leaves in Wild Wheat ink on Wild Wheat cardstock, then used the Stippled Roses dies to cut the stamped rose leaves. I used the Stippled Roses dies to cut textured rose leaves from Lost Lagoon and textured rose buds from Wild Wheat and Lost Lagoon. With liquid glue, I adhered the stamped floral swag to the Calypso Coral square at a diagonal.
I tucked the Lost Lagoon textured leaves cut with the Stippled Roses dies under the stamped roses, then added pieces of the Wild Wheat textured rose buds and ended with the Wild Wheat stamped and die cut rose leaves. Diagonally across from this layering, I added Lost Lagoon and Wild Wheat textured rose buds with the stamped and die cut leaves on top. All were tucked under the swag and adhered with liquid glue. I added three Lost Lagoon gems from the Tinsel Gems Three-Pack. With Stampin’ Dimensionals I adhered the focal point to the Basic White card base. I glued the focal point panel to a 3-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ panel of Wild Wheat and adhered the glued panel to the Lost Lagoon card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
For the inside of the card, I cut a standard 4″ x 5-1/4″ Basic White panel. I stamped the sentiment using Lost Lagoon ink and then stamped the single rose in Lost Lagoon at the bottom of the panel. I adhered the panel to the card base with Stampin’ Seal.
For the envelope, I used more Softly Stippled 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper on the envelope flap. DSP is such an easy way to dress up the flap, isn’t it? I used the Stippled Roses leaf stamp in Wild Wheat ink on the front of the envelope.
Thank you!
