Welcome back to my blog and thanks so much for stopping by. Tonight’s pre-recorded video will feature this card as well as the other online exclusives I received in my preorder this week. Since I didn’t spend millions of dollars to have my video premier during the actual game, I’d appreciate it if you’d share it with your crafty friends. Or maybe your not so crafty friends who want to be crafty. 🙂
This is a really easy fun fold book fold card. This week I’m planning another fun fold for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop. It’s a plethora of fun folds from Stamp with Nel. Well, not really but I have to admit that I LOVE fun folds (and embossing folders, texture stamps and my husband David – but not in that exact order) and I have not been making enough of them, so I intend to remedy that quick-like.
Today I’m using the Pets and More stamp set, a sentiment from the Latte Love stamp set and one of the Fun Pattern Embossing Folders. These are all online exclusive items that will be available for y’all to order on March 5. The Pets & More stamp set is a reversible stamp set which means you can stamp with both sides of the stamp. This stamp set has lots to love – a bird, rabbit (is that the Easter Bunny?), dog, cat and a fox. I admitted to my friend Friday that I was having a hard time lining the detailed stamp with the background stamp and she suggested that I stamp the detail first, then fill in with the background and she was right. I’m still not perfect, but now I have a better chance of getting the bodies in the same general area 🙂
I used three hues of blue for my card – Azure Afternoon, Balmy Blue and Boho Blue. I chose the seldom used, at least in my craft room, Azure Afternoon for the card base and cut it at 4-1/4″ by 11″, scored at 5-1/2″ and 4-1/2″. Fold the card base in half at the score line and then fold the 4-1/2″ score line open and burnish both with a bone folder for a nice crisp fold.
For the front panel, I cut a piece of Very Vanilla at 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and embossed it with the Fun Patterns Embossing folder. These are a pair of embossing folders from the March online exclusives offerings which can be used in either the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine or the Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. Because these slim embossing folders are 3-3/8″ wide, I embossed one half and then lined the pattern up and embossed the other half of the panel. I used a blending brush with Azure Afternoon ink to add a little bit of color to the embossed panel .
I cut a 7/8″ x 4-1/8″ piece of the embossed Very Vanilla for the book fold edge and adhered it to the front with liquid glue. I cut a 5″ piece of the Natural 3/8″ Polka Dot Trim, another online exclusive item available to order March 5, 2024. I opened the card and added Stampin’ Seal to the inside and adhered the trim to the card. I added liquid glue to the book fold portion only, including over the trim, and adhered the book fold closed. I used the Natural 3/8″ Polka Dot Trim and tied a faux bow on the book fold ribbon. I trimmed the tails and frayed the edges of the ribbon a little (thanks, Carol, for the suggestion).
I trimmed the remaining embossed Very Vanilla piece to 4-3/8″ x 4-1/8″. I used three 1-3/8″ x 3-3/4″ pieces of Very Vanilla to stamp the three Pets & More stamp set pets. I used Balmy Blue ink for the dog, Azure Afternoon for the cat and Boho Blue for the rabbit. I stamped each pet detailed stamp first, then stamped the background in the same color. I stamped off each color twice to lighten the background before stamping it over the detailed stamp.
I adhered the dog and the rabbit on the embossed cardstock with liquid glue, leaving a spot in the center for the cat. I added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the center of the card and adhered the Pets & More stamp set cat to the Stampin’ Dimensionals, centering it between the dog and the rabbit. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to the embossed mat and adhered the mat to the card base front. I added three Balmy Blue Pastel Adhesive-Backed Sequins to finish off the card front.
The Pets & More stamp set does not have any sentiments, so I chose one from the Latte Love Stamp Set. I stamped it in Azure Afternoon on the Very Vanilla inside panel and then used Azure Afternoon again to stamp the Pets & More stamp set paw three times on the right edge of the panel. I adhered the Very Vanilla panel to a Balmy Blue (my last piece – time to reorder) mat with Stampin’ Seal and adhered the matted panel to the card base with liquid glue.
For the envelope, I added four small stamps – fish, tennis ball, paw and food dish – to a clear block D and stamped the assortment in Balmy Blue on the Very Vanilla envelope flap. I rotated my block and stamped the assortment four times. I filled in the open areas with partial stamps from the assortment. I then used the food dish and paw to stamp the front of the envelope, also in Balmy Blue.
Thank you!

Now, y’all know I provide a PDF instruction sheet and sometimes a video for my cards. Yesterday (Saturday) I had to finish an embroidery project I promised my son I’d do for his girlfriend’s Valentine’s Day gift. It took my hours longer than it should have because I’m out of practice. Even though I got up early to finish the blog post, unfortunately, the PDF instructions are not ready. The instructions and video will be available tonight at 6 pm CST. I tried to include all the measurements you’ll need in this blog post, so perhaps you can still use stamps on hand to create this card. Thanks for understanding
