Hello and welcome to my Tuesday blog. I hope you enjoy the card I have made for you today and that you’ll try to make one, too.
I demonstrated this card on YouTube on Sunday. There was a piece of it that I struggled with, so I will tell you that you should be very precise with your measurements. Make sure that when you score, you score from the edge to the center point. I promise your precision will help you a lot.
I love the front arrow this card makes. I should mention that I first saw this on a post by Mary Beth Thrasher on Pinterest. She called it a Fun Arrow Fold card.
I used the standard 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ card base scored at 4-1/4″. To make the front fold, I laid the card horizontally with the opening at the bottom and marked the center point at 2-3/4″. I then marked at 2-1/8″ on both the right side and left side. If you wish to draw a line to follow, I recomend it.
The dotted lines are mountain folds and the solid lines valley folds.
I cut a the Iconic 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper (an online exclusive available in July) to 5-1/4″ x 4″. I marked the center bottom at 2-5/8″ and cut from each top edge to the center. I then had 3 triangles. The largest one is used for the center of the fun fold and the other two I turned over and used on the inside bottom panel. I wanted to use one of the triangles for a gift card, so I glued the straight edges and not the diagonal edge so that it was open to accept the gift card.
I also cut a piece of Basic White Cardstock to cover the underside of the top fold. I used a 5-1/4″ x 4″ piece with my center point at 2-5/8″. Just like the DSP, I cut from each top edge to the center to create a large triangle for stamping. As you’ll note in the video tutorial, the center point goes up when the card is open – this is important when stamping your sentiment. I adhered the stamped triangle to the underside of the front panel with liquid glue along the side edges.
I made a Cherry Cobbler and black shopping cart for the front of the card. I also stamped two gift bags, one plant, one bottle and one cake and colored them with Stampin’ Blends before die cutting them with the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. I used very small dots of liquid glue at the edges of the shopping cart and on the wheel portion of the cart and adhered them to the front of the card. I filled the cart with my stamped and colored images and added the Pecan Pie & Clear Ribboned Adhesive-Backed Dots (online exclusive available in July).
A note about the gift bag – in the sample I used the same DSP as the background by stamping a gift bag and fussy cutting the bag itself, then gluing the DSP to the bag. In the video I colored the gift bag. In order to insert the bottle in the bag and make it look like it’s surrounded by the tissue paper I used two gift bags and cut the top of the tissue off the front bag and glued the bag edges together allowing room to slip the bottle inside.
For the envelope, I used the same Iconic Celebrations 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper on the envelope flap and stamped and colored a gift bag on the front of the envelope.
Thank you!
