Hello y’all and welcome to today’s Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop. Several of us will be in Houston for the Stampin’ Up! OnStage event that starts this afternoon. Can you imagine 8,000 card makers in one place? I think there will be such a creative buzz in the convention center.
Today the bloggers are working with a sketch, so let’s look at it:
My husband and I love music. My husband, David, is quite the musician – he sings, plays the piano and guitar and arranges music. He is a member of the North East Texas Choral Society that performs two concerts a year. The next concert is in early May and I was thinking of the long term, founding NETCS director, when I designed this card. Sometimes having a specific person in mind inspires me to include specific elements in a card.
I love the mic and the large pick in this bundle and it was those specific items that were the deciding factor in this purchase. Specifically, the mic makes me think of the musical Million Dollar Quartet, most especially Elvis.
I used DSP as my front panel for this card. I scrunched it, tore it, twisted it, rubbed a sanding block over parts of it – anything I could do to grunge it up a bit – before adhering it to the card front.
I used a deckled circle of vellum as a “spotlight” and dry embossed it with the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder.
For fun, I tried heat embossing in silver on the Holographic paper – and it worked so well! Now that’s a pretty mic! While I was heat embossing, I embossed the Rock Star Stamp Set sentiment with silver Metallic Embossing Powder on DSP, then cut the sentiment out with the coordinating Rock Star Dies.
I used a piece of sponge, liquid glue and my silicone sheet to dab liquid glue over the entire back of the Vellum deckled circle and adhered it to the DSP.
I added Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back of the silver mic and placed it on the vellum. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals on the sentiment, avoiding where it will lay on the mic stand
I used liquid glue and adhered two small picks over the vellum circle. I added the third holographic silver pick with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Using Basic Black cardstock and the Rock Star Dies, I cut the trio of stars three times and glued them to the front of the card. I used a mini black Stampin’ Dimensional behind the lone star above the picks.
For the inside panel, I added a 3/4″ strip of DSP to the sentiment panel. I used a sponge dauber and inked the sentiment panel edges. I adhered the sentiment panel to the card base with Stampin’ Seal.
I added DSP to the envelope flap with liquid glue, then trimmed it with paper snips.
I used Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp a single guitar on the front of the envelope.
