Welcome back to another Thursday blog hop. Wherever you came from, I thank you for stopping by my blog.
For this hop, the Happy Inkin’ Thursday the bloggers were given a color challenge:
As you can see, we were given six color and had to use at least three on our cards. Because I am traveling and have limited supplies with me, I made a fairly basic card. My basic card, however, comes to life with all six colors and a really lovely embossing folder. You get flowers and a card in one sweet package.
To begin, I cut my Basic Black card base at 4-1/4″ x 11″ and scored at 5-1/2″. I folded the card base at the score line and burnished with my bone folder. I cut a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic Black for the front layer. I also cut three pieces that are 1-5/8″ x 3-3/4″ one each in Daffodil Delight, Basic Black and Lemon Lime Twist. I adhered these to the Basic Black panel with liquid glue. I then used the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine to emboss the panel with the Layered Florals 3D Embossing Folder. This embossing folder is beautiful with large floral images. It embosses deeply and beautifully.
After I embossed the panel, it’s time to decorate the card front. I chose to use the Mini Alphabet Dies and the Country Bouquet Punch to decorate. I cut three panels of 3-1/4″ x 6″ each. These are a little generous, but I prefer having a little extra room to work with here. Also, the adhesive sheets are 6″ wide, so I can cut an adhesive sheet 3-1/4″ x 6″ and have some extra card stock with the adhesive sheet already applied. I save these in with my scrap card stock. I am working on building up a stock of self-adhesive letters in different colors, so I cut an entire die of letters in Pool Party, Sweet Sorbet and Petal Pink using the large Mini Alphabet Die and the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine .
Once I cut my letters, I gathered the letters for the Pool Party LOVE, the Sweet Sorbet YOU and the Petal Pink MORE and adhered them to the embossed card panel. I started with the Pool Party LOVE on Daffodil Delight and adhered the letter E first at the far right of the panel and then built the word backwards. I suppose telling you the words are right justified would be helpful here. I added the Sweet Sorbet YOU on the Basic Black panel and the Petal Pink MORE on the Lemon Lime Twist.
I used the Country Bouquet Punch to make three large Country Gingham hearts in Balmy Blue, Sweet Sorbet and Petal Pink. I thought I was very good about pulling retired DSP from my stash and not using it for blog cards, but this one slipped past me. Hoping you have some on hand – or you can punch the hearts from solid card stock. I adhered the hearts to the front of the card with liquid glue. I added a black and white gingham ribbon around the panel and tied a bow. I added a mini glue dot under the bow knot to keep it in place and added three black Classic Matte Dots. I then adhered the panel to the front of the card with black Stampin’ Dimensionals.
For the inside of the card, I cut a panel of Lemon Lime Twist card stock at 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ and a panel of Basic White at 4″ x 5-1/4″. I used the Country Gingham and cut 2 Balmy Blue, 2 Sweet Sorbet and 1 Petal Pink small hearts using the Country Bouquet Punch. I glued the hearts to the bottom of the Basic White panel with the Balmy Blue on the outside, then Sweet Sorbet next in and the Petal Pink in the center. I adhered the Basic White to the Lemon Lime Twist with Stampin’ Seal and then adhered the matted panel to the card base with liquid glue.
I used the Petal Pink designer series paper and glued it to the envelope flap with liquid glue. I used the previously cut Mini Alphabet Dies to spell David on the envelope front using Sweet Sorbet and Petal Pink letters. You might know that David travels most weeks and I hide a card in his suitcase for him to read when he gets to his hotel. Since I was able to travel with him this week, he was surprised there was still a card in his suitcase 🙂
Thank you!

Retired Stampin’ Up! Products
My online Stampin’ Up! retired product store has been refreshed with additional products. I will be adding more retired products as I come across them. I have a variety of stamps, dies and embellishments. My stamps and dies are all gently used and most were purchased within the last two years (although some may be “vintage”). Dies might be on magnet cards as I did not start saving the original packaging until just recently. Designer Series Paper and embellishments are new in unopened packages unless otherwise stated.
Due to Stampin’ Up! policies, I can only ship to U. S. addresses.
