Hello and welcome to my blog. I hope you are having a good week. We had a fabulous weekend celebrating the graduate.

My mom visited for Ethan’s graduation and Mother’s Day. While she was here, we spent some time creating and even filmed a tutorial for today’s card. The photos you see are of the photo pocket card I made for David which does include retired stamps. You’ll see Mom’s card in the video with current product (mostly). I did include a printable PDF page with cutting measurements and a supply list, but all the instructions are contained in the YouTube video.

For this project, I found a blog post by Robin Armbrecht that was exactly what I wanted to create. I was not intending to blog the photo pocket card I made for my husband to commemorate the day we met, April 27, 2016, but my Mom was here and really wanted to recreate it as a pocket card for her journal using the A Little Latte Designer Series Paper. Journaling is something Mom has done for as long as I can remember, so I love that she applied this project to something she loves to do already.

During the video, I pulled out a box of stamps that she sent me last year when she was purging during a move. Her choice of stamps and mine aren’t all that similar, but since they were special to her I kept them in a safe place. When she saw the box of stamps she immediately wanted to take most of them home with her. It was quite fun for me to see her so excited to play with them again. I sent her home with ink pads and cardstock so that she could immediately create cards when she got home.

A lovely part of this rediscovery is that my mom and her sister, Janice (my Godmother), were stampers together. Janice has dementia and has deteriorated quite a bit in the last few years. She will be visiting Mom and their other siblings this month. Now that she has some of her favorite stamps back, Mom is excited to stamp with Janice again. We both hoped that stamping will be something Janice still finds fun to do and would remember having done it together before.

A note about the diagram below: When you’re doing the cutting and folding the side you WANT to show on the outside should be face down on your table (i.e. wrong side up) but it doesn’t really matter which way you fold the cuts. The cards we demonstrated were cut and folded as on the LEFT, but when I assembled it I wanted the other side to show. I could have cut it wrong side UP using the right side diagram . Just keep in mind that you remove one square and cut the bottom of the other to fold towards the remaining center square. Pick only one of the diagrams below to use
